No doubt, these are trying times for our beloved country, Nigeria, and following the series of events that have culminated into a much more serious issue of national, and international concern, it becomes a breath of fresh air when we can still draw inspiration, motivation, and hope from songs that are written deliberately to heal our soul, and channel our thoughts towards a positive direction.

As a writer, blogger and Storyteller, it could be quite overwhelming putting all these stories in one piece, however as I lay my head on my couch, brainstorming over the next story or article to write, this is one song that constantly leaves a smile on my face, as I continue to dwell on the lyrics which says, thus:

THINGS ARE GETTING BETTER, BY GOD'S POWER.

And to think that his song was actually written in 2010, and released in 2013 by the song writer, Tayo Bamgbose, one cannot help, but wonder if God has been preparing the hearts of Nigerians to just stay calm in the midst of the unforseen storm. For me, this song is more than a metaphor, even the allegorical essence cannot be overlooked. Juxtaposing the events that occurred on the 20th of October, 2020, the events that followed, and the agitation for a new Nigeria, the dots might seem disconnected, however because one cannot underestimate the power of positive declaration, and confession, it would be safe to say that this song is very timely, and a much needed vibe for our beloved nation, Nigeria. As we look forward to a brighter future, and a great nation, we must be deliberate about taking complimentary steps, and just like it is emphasized by the song writer, Tayo Bamgbose: THINGS ARE GETTING BETTER! NIGERIA WILL BE GREAT AGAIN. 

I recommend this song for everyone and hopefully we are able to share across board. GOD BLESS NIGERIA.🙏 Your words have the potentials to create or destroy, let's speak these words into the life of our dear beloved nation, Nigeria.

      That’s NOT my Father!       Sumayyah Oluwafunbi  Ogunsola              It’s a bleak, dark late evening accompanied by torrent of rain and the howling of the wind; the power is out. My father and I sit down in the parlour, looking at each other and sighing in disappointment, as our fun day out was ruined.
