Onome's Dad caught her mother's attention consequently. "Papa Onome, na wetin happen? Why you dey cry na?" She asked. Onome's dad shook his head vehemently like he was in real anguish. "This your head wey you dey shake like this so, I no understand o!" Onome's mother emphasized. That evening, Onome's dad refused to speak to any one. He just agonized. Despite Onome's plea for him to open up, he did not succumb. "After, dem go dey accuse me of hiding things! This one wey your papa dey do na wetin?" Onome's mother lamented. To say the least, Onome was uneasy and could not figure out why her dad would break down suddenly like that. "Was he in some trouble?" Onome kept thinking and eventually fell asleep.

The Wailing Creatures  W ritten by Sumayyah Oluwafunbi Ogunsola     With a big smile on and shiny gleaming teeth plastered on my sweaty face, I step inside the dusty building with the big bold inscription: ‘ WELCOME TO THE ZOO!’  As I walk around with my black heels making a pit-pat, click-clack sound, my eager brown irises get locked in a trance with the brownish red Hawaiian bird.       That’s NOT my Father!       Sumayyah Oluwafunbi  Ogunsola              It’s a bleak, dark late evening accompanied by torrent of rain and the howling of the wind; the power is out. My father and I sit down in the parlour, looking at each other and sighing in disappointment, as our fun day out was ruined. I glance at our pet cat, Tata, to see that she is fast asleep.               Exasperated, my father launches himself on the sofa and says to me, “I am going to get Starbucks. Wait for me.” Worried, I respond “In the rain, and at this time, dad? You have heard how dangerous people lurk in the cloak of darkness...” He cuts me off.
