ADRENA'S PRIDE... Written by E PLUS The Storyteller.

"Adrena, who is this, what's going on here?" Mikel asked, curiously.

Without saying a word, Adrena walked away, and hurriedly headed out of the club, while Mikel followed behind. As they went out, the young man followed.

"Adrena! Is this the reason you abadoned me?" The young man voiced out. Mikel moved closer, and began to challenge him.

"How dare you talk to my fiancé like that! Why are you following us? Mikel yelled.

"Oh! Really?" The young man exclaimed, while Adrena remained silent. Mikel returned to her, this time around, he was quite furious, and had become desperate.

"Adrena, do you know this intruder? Say something!" Mikel asked, and Adrena looked at him, almost like she had become sober.

"Yes, he is Charles." Adrena replied.

"And, so?" Mikel exclaimed.

"em... Mikel, it's complicated." Adrena said, as she shuddered.

"Then, uncomplicate it! This is becoming quite embarassing" Mikel said.

"Well, Adrena is my fiance, we were engaged a long time ago, until I had issues abroad. I lost contact with her, at some point." Charles spoke up.

And almost immediately, Adrena fell on her knees, as she began to cry. Mikel was s quite speechless and  upset, and so surprised that he could hardly say anything, and he walked away, while Adrena  continued to lament.

"Charles! Why did you have to come back, now? Adrena said, as Charles walked away in dismay.

Almost immediately, a car drove into the compound, and pulled over.Ashante stepped out with Chief Chukudi. Both were surprised to see Adrena, in tears. Ashante rushed forward to console her.

"Adrena! Why are you  crying?" Ashante asked.

"I have lost everything!" Adrena lamented.

"What do you mean by you have lost everything?" Ashante asked, quite curiously.

"I thought I was going to settle down, in a couple of weeks o! Then Charles showed up from no where!" Adrena continued to lament.

"The same Charles? Ah! When did he return?" Ashante exclaimed.

"What's going on, here sweetheart?" Chief Chukudi interrupted, talking to Ashante as he moved closer.

"Darling, Adrena is not feeling so well, I will be right behind you, just go in, while I stay with her for sometime." Ashante responded.

"Okay dear, if you say so. Adrena, please take it easy o!" Chief Chukudi said as he left. Adrena stared at Ashante for a moment, as she was quite lost.

"Adrena, why are you staring like that?" Ashante asked.

"Wait o! Chief bought a new car?" Adrena exclaimed.

"Yes.. that car, is actually for me, he decided to drive, today." Ashante said.

"Seriously?" Adrena screamed.

"He even bought me a small duplex, last week." Ashante added.

"What? How come?" Adrena exclaimed.

"I don't understand, what do you mean by how come?" Ashante reacted.

"Chief has never bought me a car, or a house before. What did you do to get such vibe from him" Adrena lamented. Immediately, Ashante drew back.

"Ahan! Adrena! Na wa for you o! Shebi you are no longer with Chief, why are you so touchy? Whatever is between Chief and me, is our business." Ashante responded.

"Oh! Is that so? And that's why you couldn't update me, right? Remember I introduced you to Chief? Remember? I need my share, at least show some appreciation" Adrena re-echoed.

"Wait o! Adrena! I can see that you are transferring your frustration on me. I won't stand here, and be insulted. What were you thinking? That you would eat your cake, and have it, abeg oo!...look some where else.  Sort yourself out, I'm with chief now, and there is nothing, you, or anyone can do about it."

Ashante said, and walked on, to catch up with chief. It soon dawned on Adrena, that everything was falling apart. She turned around, in search of Charles, hoping she could get another chance, to make amends, but he was long, gone.

Immediately, Adrena returned home, she flung herself on the couch, and began to write a note.  As soon as she was done, she slipped it under the door, and switched off the light.

The next day, a neighbour stopped by to drop a wedding invitation at Adrena's apartment, and as she pushed the door open, she screamed on sighting Adrena's body, hanging from a ceiling.

"Noooooooooooo!!!" The echo of the neighbour's voice filtered throughout the entire neighbourhood. It turned out to be one of the darkest days, ever.
