THE DAY I ASKED SOME STUDENTS IF THEY ENJOY READING.,

So, I'm chatting with these awesome children during a session on World Book Reading Day, and as a Creative Writing Coach I sort to know how many of them actually love to read?
Naturally, I thought every hand would go up, but my presumption was absolutely wrong.
Some hands were still down! So this simply made me realise that there are children who do not find reading interesting!
Hmmm, as a "curious kitten" that I was, I proceeded to find out more about their reasons, and these were the following discoveries amongst other personal reasons...
1. They get quite bored because of the kind of stories they are exposed to.
2. More often, they are compelled to read, thus reading tags along with so much stress, rather than actually enjoying it!
3. Reading does not appear appealing to them.
4. Most of the boys would rather settle for visual games...
5. Some students have preference for certain genres over others.
6. Other students wouldn't mind special stories which covers their interest and outlook to life...
These are quite interesting, yet informative discoveries for me as far as my quest for mentoring and nurturing Students in creativity goes! After further conversations with these students, as we tried to reason together, it had become quite evident that indeed, every child has great potentials that must thrive in the most conducive and accommodating environment right from their impressionable age. One cannot afford to leave any stone unturned, thus our materials for impacting these children must be of utmost priority.
Time is of the essence: Quality time must be spent with these children/wards to harness their given potential positively.
"A stitch in time saves nine"
Parents, Teachers, Coaches, Instructors, Guardians must strive to engage these children more meaningful in order to also maximise their potentials.
Everything must be channelled towards the right direction.
Creativity is an integral part of any successful endeavour, thus its role in Nation Building cannot be overemphasized and this, definitely starts from the cradle.
All hands must be on deck!
