Before Abigail could complete her sentence, there was a loud bang as the conductor hit the head of the passenger against the bus! Everyone exclaimed.
"Ah! Kilode!(What is it?") "What is happening!" Others lamented and there was blood in the entire Bus. There was pandemonium as everyone attempted saving their 'head."
"Mami, let's step down from this bus now!"Abigail exclaimed as they made their way out.
Suddenly an old woman cried out loud! "My eye o! My eye o!"
She held on to Abigail's skirt as she was about to step out.
Abigail turned around and quickly held on to the old woman as she tried to assist her to her feet while Abigail's mother supported her back. "Conductor, you see wetin you don cause, abi?" Another passenger yelled.
Few minutes later, the man who had bled from the hit of the conductor was taken out while Abigail and her mother gently walked out of the Bus with the old Woman. "Hmmm...Thank you o! God go bless una!" The old Woman said as she strolled away, leaving the rest behind.
Abigail and her mother watched keenly to be double sure she was fine and as soon as she was out of sight, Abigail and her Mother turned to the conductor.
"So, where is our money now that your bus has stopped?" Abigail demanded. Every other passenger also joined in request for their money. "Make una take am easy nau! I go give una, una money. Una no see say the man still dey comot blood for body?" The conductor said as he looked helpless. "See..conductor or whatever you call yourself, hurry up and return my money, otherwise..hmmm!.all hell will let loose here o!" One of the women lamented. Abigail and her mother became restless.
"My Pikin, you sure say we go fit wait for dis conductor?" Abigail's mother asked anxiously.
"Mami, we need to take back our money o!" Abigail insisted. Obviously everyone had become impatient and by the time the conductor began to attend to the wounded passenger who had become very weak, the entire crowd grew berserk.
Everyone pounced on the conductor as some women attempted snatching the money from his hands while others hit him with their fist. "Egbami mi o! Won ti kpami o! Awon were!(Help me o! They have killed me O! Crazy People!)" The conducted exclaimed. Abigail and her Mother soon managed to escape any form of stampede, leaving their money with the conductor.
