Onome could read through that stare. It was the kind that spoke volumes of disbelief. Her mother kept moving steadily towards her direction and suddenly, the unexpected question popped up. "So where my corn?" Her mother asked sternly. Onome's feet became cold and stiff.😁 "Em..em...mama,I no fit come grind am because dem drive everybody commit." Onome responded. Onome's mother let out a loud gasp. "Onome! Onome! Onome! How many times I call you!?" She said. Onome starred frightfully at her mother. "Mama na three times." She uttered cautiously. "Where my corn?" Her mother asked again. Hurriedly, Onome brought the bowl of corn out of the hiding place. She stretched it forward to her mother. "Mama, na im be this." She said. Her mother took the bowl of corn and then, her countenance changed.😳
