 "Breaking News!

What would have been a tragedy yesterday at the commissioning of the state-of-the-art gallery by the the president, was promptly averted by the competent security details of the president. A young man in his mid 30s who has been identified as 'Julius' was apprehended in his attempt to attack the president. Investigations are still ongoing to unravel the cause of this unsettling development.

And to other news...talks are currently on with respect to the oil companies stationed at Kolobiri; this is in view of proffering lasting solutions to the incessant oil spillage responsible for pollution of the entire community. Hands are crossed and hopes are high as the youths of Kolobri---who recently protested---and the entire community look forward to a positive outcome." The broadcast from the TV station filled the air.

"Na wa o! Na so so panic full everywhere...today na dis one... tomorrow na dat one! Abeg all diz news sef...na which day we go see real solution for dis our country?" Madam Tonia, a mother of two, lamented.

"The tin sef tire person jare...which one come bi say dem dey arrest innocent young man wey dey ask for him right?" Papa Onome said.

"You mean say, the yarn wey dem dey yarn about the young man wey dem say him wun attack the president, na lie?" Mama Onome asked.

"All na big lie! You no know how all diz government piple dey lie?" Papa Onome reiterated.

"Na wetin come be di real story sef?" Madam Tonia probed further.

"Na just say the young man shout, "Give us our share!" Na im dem arrest am o!" Papa Onome explained further.

" Hmmm...the 'shut down syndrome!' " Teacher Mark exclaimed.

"Abeg na which one be 'Shut down syndrome' again?" Mama Onome asked.

"Well...in case you haven't noticed, the powers that be are opposed to being challenged and at the slightest chance, any agitation by citizens--especially the common man, is met with great resistance," Teacher Mark elaborated.

"Tomorrow, dem go talk say na GOVERNMENT BY THE PEOPLE..." Aliko, the palm wine tapper lamented

"Anyway, as we dun hear say the youths dun dey stand up to challenge all diz yeye leaders dem, I get hope say tins dun dey change small small," Papa Onome said.

"I pray o! Because diz government piple wahala dun tire person," Mama Onome exclaimed.

"Well.... it's only a matter of time," Mark teacher said.

Tossing and turning on the bed amidst the chaotic sound he could hear in his head, Demola suddenly woke up with a start. He sat up on his bed, sweating profusely, and then he realised that his phone had been ringing incessantly. Quickly, he reached out for it without looking at the numbers on the screen.

"Yes! Who is this?" Demola said.

"Demola! Bawoni? (How are you?) Kilode?(What is it?) Didn't you see all the calls you missed from me?" The voice on the other side echoed, and then it dawned on Demola that it was his father-- President Dapo Makinde.

"So sorry dad... didn't realise you were the one... didn't bother to look at my phone screen. It was such a tiring day, yesterday. I slept so deep," Dapo replied.

"I see...so I need you back to the country, tomorrow," President Dapo Makinde said.

"Dad! Tomorrow?" Demola exclaimed.

"Yes? Tomorrow! Is there a problem?" President Dapo Makinde responded.

"Dad...You know I still have some ongoing projects here, and I need to supervise them," Dapo lamented.

"That's not a problem, I will have Collins take over," President Dapo Makinde said.

          Demola took a deep breath

"...but dad, what's the urgency?" Demola asked curiously.

"We will talk about it when you arrive," President Dapo Makinde replied.

"Sure, dad. First thing tomorrow, then," Dapo reassured.

"That's fine, I believe all your security details are in check and on standby?" President Dapo Makinde said.

"Yes, Dad. Everything is in check," Dapo responded.

"Great! See you tomorrow," President Dapo Makinde said, and the call ended.

Dapo remained still on his bed as his mind pondered.
