One on one with Oladapo Olowonirejuro, on the exclusive online chat interview, taggged: MEET THE GUEST...with E PLUS The Storyteller.

On this edition of MEET THE GUEST..hosted by E PLUS the Storyteller, Oladapo Olowonirejuro is our guest, and as an economist, he holistically gives an overview of the current Lock Down situation within context. You don't want to miss this.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Welcome to the exclusive column, on E PLUS The Storyteller Blog, tagged: *MEET THE GUEST.*🙏🏻
We will be getting your views on the 'Stay Home effect' on all spheres of our lives,  currently.
First, do you see this as a threat or a blessing?

Oladapo  Olowonirejuro :     A blessing, As an individual who needs time.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Okay.. interesting. So how do you think we can balance this in the home front and the society, at large, considering other implications?🤷🏼‍♀️

Oladapo  Olowonirejuro: I don’t think there can be a balance, in all honesty. I just think there will be victims and victors.First off, the differences of social stratification makes it that way, those who were aware and had some form of income and savings, tend to gain because they have the purchasing power to stock up on the necessary basic amenities, those on the other side who can’t afford such luxuries, will be affected adversely. I think the hunger in the land far supersedes the fear of the virus.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Hmmm..looks like there are more ripple effects than we think, right?

Oladapo  Olowonirejuro: If people can comply to the sit-house order it would be of immense benefits.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Great..
Can we look at how we can avoid this development from getting way out of hand, especially for those who might not have enough financial sustainance currently?

Oladapo Olowonirejuro:  I don’t know if they have a decentralized formal way of neighborhood watch in every place? Just like that village type of organization where you have the village head, and then other small compound heads who attend meetings in small groups, if the system is such that there is a sense of count then it would go a long way by just calling on each village head to get a list of streets in and those leaders in charge of the streets and in turn get the number of houses in that street. With maybe a fictional amount of people in each house.
By decentralized I mean, village head, then sectionals heads who manage streets and report to the village heads. And each street head knows the various houses under his jurisdiction and has their contact in each block. If there is a head count, then it’s a starting point for the dissemination of Food. A head count in that form will allow the government to know who and what they are planning to provide for.
Like we have landlord meetings in my house and the head kind of knows the head count of most houses. All I am saying is that the Government should look for a way to get a head count.
                    Oladapo Olowonirejuro.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Awesome👏🏻👏🏻 So, with regards to this development, how do you see the rest of the world conforming to a drastic transition, from the physical transactions to digital?

Oladapo  Olowonirejuro: Physical transactions as cash payment to cashless or what?

E PLUS The Storyteller: Transactions in every commercial space..

Oladapo  Olowonirejuro : It depends on the level of preparedness by each individual economy of the world, and preparedness is vague in this sense, level of education by each and every level of the society, government infrastructure, citizens willingness, and many more underlying factors.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Hmm.. insightful.
So, at the moment, what has been the prons and cons for you?

Oladapo   Olowonirejuro: Of the shutdown or lockdown?

E PLUS The Storyteller: Yes.

Oladapo  Olowonirejur: I think it is more of an advantage because I get to rest and read. Staying at home keeps me sane, the pressure of the world seems to be at rest. In essence i am comfortable in my skin.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Thanks so much for your time..

There, we go! No doubt, it's been  such an interactive session with the economist, Oladapo Olowonirejuro.
Until next edition, on MEET THE GUEST...with E PLUS The Storyteller, stay safe!
