MEET GUEST... hosted by E PLUS the Storyteller.                ************************
The Unveiling of Azeezat, also known as @thatfooddielawyer, on MEET THE GUEST hosted by E PLUS the Storyteller.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Azeezat Adejare Ifemide..(@thatfooddielawyer) You're welcome to E PLUS the Storyteller Blog..
We are excited that you're here!๐Ÿ˜„

Adejare Azeezat Ifemide: Thank you...
It's a delight to be here!

E PLUS The Storyteller: Awesome!.
Now, you are one unique individual who is fast cutting a niche for herself, especially in the the food sector because one can hardly talk about Azeezat Adejare Ifemide without mentioning those exciting and mouthwatering meals she brings into the homes of billions of people..
Tell us all about it๐Ÿ™‚

ADEJARE AZEEZAT IFEMIDE.: Wow...
My journey with food goes all the way back to my childhood.
I was introverted by nature and quickly found the kitchen to be my "comfort space" very early on, in life.
I would cling to my mother, who is a treat cook herself, whenever she was cooking and I started to learn how to make basic Nigerian meals at the age of 5. By the time I was 10 years old, I was able to independently handle a meal of up to twelve people.
As I grew older,.cooking became the most potent medium through which I expressed my feelings and spread the abundance of love locked inside my soul.. ๐Ÿ˜Š
E PLUS The Storyteller: Wow! Quite interesting... So you found your inspiration, early enough?

Adejare Azeezat Ifemide: Absolutely!

E PLUS The Storyteller: Now, let's talk about your recipes, @thatfooddielawyer.
Why are they so irresistible? Even when we see them on your pages and blog, they literally call out our taste buds..what's the secret?

Adejare Azeezat Ifemide : Oh, this is not farfetched. The secret simply lies in the depth of love, with which I handle, and convert every ingredient, into a wholesome meal.
I am a "process" person and I pay particular attention to every step that makes up the meal process. I cook from the heart...

E PLUS The Storyteller: Hmmm.. insightful indeed! Would you say that that, there are different preferences for meals owing to culture or are people, generally accommodating?

Adejare Azeezat Ifemide: For me, food is a global phenomenon, which serves as a unifying force that brings everyone together...
Nigerians however, are very big on their traditional dishes, and it is a source of pride we attach to our heritage. I'll conclude by saying, it swings both ways..
E PLUS The Storyteller: Great! So would it be correct to say, being a foodie and food blogger, has given you the platform to diversify?

Adejare Azeezat Ifemide : Oh yes, It would! Actually, I'm not your regular "food blogger". My content represents mainly, a fusion of Food and law, which are what I'm about. A combination of my passion and my training, thus, I would say I have the best of both worlds, because no two fields allow for expression of diversity than,Food and Law.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Very apt! Very apt! Indeed..
And this leads us to your unique style of blending Law and Food! I guess no one ever saw that, coming?๐Ÿ˜„

Adejare Azeezat Ifemide: ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ. Even I, didn't see that coming!!!
Truth is, I have always questioned my reason for studying Law...
I have always felt there was more that I could offer, that I wasn't sufficiently utilizing the law profession for...
I began to probe into how I could make this right, and @thatfooddielawyer was birthed!
I'm now grateful than ever, for the rare privilege of studying one of the most prestigious professions in the world... The opportunities that come with it are limitlessness!!!

 E PLUS The Storyteller: Amazing!
So, to the most exciting part๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿผ..can we have one of your recipes as you take us on the journey of Law and Food?

Adejare Azeezat Ifemide: I'd be glad to share my ร sun recipe, with a twist..

ร€sun is made with.  goat meat, diced and sautรฉed in a blend of pepper mix, spiced and seasoned to perfection! ๐Ÿ‘Œ

The step by step process are:

-Season your meat with onions, maggi, salt, garlic and ginger. (Tip: I blend some of the onion with  garlic and ginger into a paste, pour in the meat then, leave to marinate for sometime)
- Boil your meat till tender
-Rub some oil on it and roast in the oven at 300° for about 30 minutes or until slightly browned (Some people fry, I prefer to grill, broil or roast for added flavor)
-Blend your peppers to have a rough consistency and bring it to a boil till all the fluid dries out.
-Chop more onions and green peppers/spring onions
-Get your seasoning cubes, vegetable oil and suya spice (optional but again, I add this for extra flavor) ready as well.
-Place your pot on the stove till warm and pour in just enough oil to keep the meat from burning
-When oil is warm enough to sizzle, add onions and half of the green peppers and fry lightly
-For me, I like the the oil to absorb flavor of the goat meat together with that of the green pepper, so I pour in my diced meat at this point (some people pour in the pepper at this point, fry, and pour in meat afterwards..)
-Fry meat lightly with the other ingredients on medium heat and keep mixing (Do not leave for long so the green pepper doesn't lose its crunchiness)
-Pour in the pepper, maggi, and suya spice (I don't add salt again at this point, because the suya spice already contains salt)
-Mix together and keep tossing on medium-high heat for a couple of minutes
-Add in the other half of the green peppers and onions, if you prefer and toss for two more minutes

-Your asun is ready

E PLUS The Storyteller: Absolutely refreshing๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป..It's all about Creativity. bring it on!!

Adejare Azeezat Ifemide: Thank you. .

E PLUS The Storyteller: This recipe, definitely is a sure deal, can we make orders?๐Ÿ™‚

Adejare Azeezat Ifemide: Absolutely! ๐Ÿ˜…
I also run my food business at Ontario, Canada via @zeesplatter on IG, where we satisfy cravings for a taste of home, by providing sumptuous Nigerian meals, while elegantly propagating #naijafood to the world!
E PLUS The Storyteller: Awesome!!
And now, it looks like we will be getting more of your delicious and mouthwatering recipes on more platforms, which is definitely good news, because everyone will be carried along, across the globe. What should we expect?

Adejare Azeezat Ifemide: Expect a helluva ride! (In a good way though, ๐Ÿ˜…).
@thatfooddielawyer is going to be packed with loads of fun, innovative, informative, and inspirational content, that cuts across everyone.
I had the privilege of volunteering for Siddiqah Foundation via @mystreetkitchen back in Nigeria, and the experience has left me with an unquantifiable amount of growth and learning.
So... More importantly, a lot of major collaborations with empowerment programs and food charity outreaches should be expected!
That's all I'm letting out of the bag for now.. ๐Ÿ˜Š

E PLUS The Storyteller: Yes!! We are already salivating with the tip of the iceberg๐Ÿ™‚ and I'm absolutely confident that it would be worthwhile...

                MEET THE GUEST
hosted by E PLUS the Storyteller
Every time you get to chat with woman who knows her onion, it is quite refreshing, particularly when she exhumes such confidence and grace. Today, on E PLUS the Storyteller Blog, Anne Vincent takes us on an interesting ride as we talk about life, work and so much more..
E PLUS The Storyteller: Good to have you on E PLUS the Storyteller Blog, Anne Vincent.

Anne: Thank you very much for having me .

E PLUS The Storyteller: How are you and life generally?

Anne : We are very well thank you for asking.

E PLUS The Storyteller: What would you say about the emerging demands of technology as it relates to work and life style?

Anne: It's a great time to be alive really, I love that the world has gone digital and almost everything has been digitalized. Which makes one's work and life easier than it was several years ago. It will only get better from this point on.
E PLUS The Storyteller: Hmmm.. awesome๐Ÿ‘...on the flip side, do you think women are taking personal advantage of the technological trend?

Anne: I'm opportuned to know a lot of smart women who have keyed into this global trend of taking their  businesses online and, they are better for it today. After all the world is our oyster isn't it ?

E PLUS The Storyteller: Sure..it is.๐Ÿ‘
There is this narrative associated with the woman as being the "Weaker sex" with regards to the gender question..do you necessarily buy this, considering how well, women are striving in their various endeavours?

Anne: I think the worst thing anyone can do really,  is to underestimate a woman. Reason is that a woman is capable of a whole lot of things as we are Multi-Faceted. This isn't about Feminism but I absolutely believe in giving honour where due. There is no such thing as weaker vessel because Male and Female, God made them all.
E PLUS The Storyteller: Insightful..

Anne: Thank you

E PLUS The Storyteller: So we can actually see the woman as a symbol of strength?

Anne: Absolutely she embodies it ..... Its in her, it makes up her entire essence..

E PLUS The Storyteller: Beautiful..
What would you recommend for a woman who feels inadequate?

Anne: Thank you for the question. For a woman who feels inadequate I will say to her " You are Enough". " It's in you" . You have so much imbedded in you, that needs to be expressed. Surround yourself with people who gas you up, who support you, your endeavours , and your goals and vision. Also you can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.  You are capable ,I'm a firm believer in positive words of affirmation because over time you believe .
E PLUS The Storyteller: This is really assuring.. awesome!!

Anne: Thank you.

E PLUS The Storyteller: What's your favourite colour?

Anne: I have a few no favorite: Emerald Green, Black ,All shades of Nude , All pastel colours too.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Interesting..and can we always say colours speak volumes, especially as it relates to individual disposition?

Anne: Well it really depends on the individual, half the time some of those predictions are true at other times they are not. For me I can be fiery so,  red could be a colour synonymous with me and at other times it could be Baby pink or Baby Blue as I am introverted too.

 E PLUS The Storyteller: Hmmm..quite interesting๐Ÿ™‚

Does this translate into branding as well?

Anne: Absolutely, in branding people see you way before they hear you. Its in the aesthetics, the ambience, the code of conduct etc

E PLUS The Storyteller: Hmmm.. awesome
So image is key๐Ÿ‘

What will you be found doing, if you're not working?

Anne: I am an avid traveller , I enjoy travelling to various places and experiencing different cultures and cusines, after all the World is my Oyster, there is no stopping me...

E PLUS The Storyteller: Sure there is no stopping you...

Any regrets?

Anne: I never live my life regretting the past or pining away on what could have been. Every single experience I have been through has led me to where I am right now...  I'm better for it
E PLUS The Storyteller: Yes!! and even getting better every day, are the interactions we get, right here on E PLUS the storyteller Blog, especially with a dynamic woman like you! We could spend all day on this discourse but for time, we have to let you go. Hopefully we will have you back, talking more on BRANDING because we know that's your forte..

Anne, it's been a pleasure having you here on E PLUS the Storyteller Blog..
The entire team and I, wish you the very best in all your endeavours..keep flying.

Anne: Thank you so much for having me too, it's been my absolute pleasure.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Any word you want to leave before you go?

Anne Olaide: The biggest conglomerates in the world started with a single step that led them to where they are today .So regardless of whatever hand life has dealt you, whatever you do ensure you take baby steps daily to actualize your dreams and aspirations. It's in the diligence and consistency. That's what differentiates the Fortune 500 CEO's and others. Not forgetting God's enduring and ever steadfast grace.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Spot On..

An  epitome of beauty and unrivalled dexterity yet she exhumes such confidence and tenacity as she flawlessly displays her stage craft.

Meet the guest, Yeye Floxy, Queen of Hikkoso music(a k.a Floxy bee) on E PLUS the Storyteller as she takes us into her world and tells us about the journey thus far....

E PLUS The Storyteller: Welcome to E PLUS the Storyteller Blog.

Yeye Floxy: Thank you, I am glad to be here.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Awesome.๐Ÿ‘.Congratulations on the many feathers to your hat.

Yeye Floxy: Thank you so much.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Amongst these feathers, are the titles conferred on you. How do you feel?

Yeye Floxy: How do l feel? I feel good! It's an honor to be recognized for the work you do. I thank the city of Newark for the Resolution .

 E PLUS The Storyteller: Hmm..great.
You are a woman of many colours as far as being talented is concerned, how can you define yourself in all of this?

Yeye Floxy: I see myself as an entertainer, born to make people happy and in the process of entertaining, create an atmosphere of healing. As we all know music heals.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Outstanding..now let's talk about your music. You're a veteran in the music industry who has successfully cut a niche for yourself, how has the journey been thus far?

Yeye Floxy: Not bad at all.  I glorify God. It's filled with bumps here and there but, l have been able to stay on course, believing in my act and as such gain a following that not only listens to African music but those that love everything pertaining to our Culture. As you know African Music is often rejected by it's own who preferseverything European. The same Europeans are the ones that cherish African music the most. We need to appreciate what is ours.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Very profound๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป
Eko is one of your most popular songs, what's the inspiration behind it?

Yeye Floxy: My song "Eko" means Lagos. It's an atmospheric song describing the hustle and bustle of lagos. If you don't become smart in lagos you will never be smart anywhere in the world. Eko ogba gbere (Lagos, ni nonsense)Danfo oshi ere! In a loud voice "Iya elewa aganyiin".(loudly)๐Ÿ˜€ A fun song.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Great.
Is there a difference between life performance and recording as far as music goes?

Yeye Floxy: If l have to pick between the two, life performance is better because it gives you the opportunity of being yourself. Life performance simply means flexibility.  While recording means formatted. Hmmm maybe rigidity.
๐Ÿ˜€. Better put, with life performance you are your authentic self. Yes!

E PLUS The Storyteller: Hmmm..
And this leads me to to the next question, what inspires your tireless dexterity?

Yeye Floxy: What inspires my tireless dexterity? Hmmm. I love what l do though it has not made me a multi-millionaire.  Music or should l say singing is in my blood, it's in my D.N.A.  Ask a lot of Artists, it is never easy to go into a different profession. It's like a d...g. You must have it. Why? Music is life.

E PLUS The Storyteller: What's your most memorable performance?

Yeye Floxy: E plus Storyteller ๐Ÿ˜€, every performance is memorable. You must kill it all the time you step on that stage, there are no small shows or big shows. Take note. Anytime you handle the mic, just be ready . Forever ready is my name. ๐Ÿ˜

E PLUS The Storyteller: Wow! So is Chief Floxy Yeye.. working on any project?

Yeye Floxy: I have a lot on my plate right now. I am getting ready for my shows here in the State. July 25th@Joe's pub and August 4th@Musikfest Pennsylvania.  17-21 of July my oganisation is having 2019 Spirit of Peace and Prosperity Summit. Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions in New York, a five days event of dignitaries coming from all parts of the world in attendance. Ooni Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi was there last year. Oba Aderemi Alayemore of Ido Osun was there. To mention a few. The prayers for our brothers and sisters who were enslaved was done. They were remembered for their legacies of paving the way for us, Yeye Asa- mother of culture, Yeye Osun MDK 1, Queen Diambi of Congo.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Great...so how do you balance music and the home front?

Yeye Floxy: I sing at home
l go into the kitchen and infuse my food with melodic flavours.

E PLUS The Storyteller: What will you say to people who want to take music as a career?

Yeye Floxy: No matter what you do, you need education. It's good to have a secondary skill for the hard times so as to achieve your musical dreams. Don't give up. Let one hand subsidise the other.
E PLUS The Storyteller: For a woman of your pedigree, who is well travelled by virtue of your musical prowess, How would you describe, your musical experience thus far?

Yeye Floxy Yeye: It's what l was meant to do. There is satisfaction and fulfilling one's destiny. The nice thing is thar music can be shared. I pray that l can add to our  collective consciousness and do my bit, to save our culture.

E PLUS The Storyteller: How can Chief Floxy Yeye be reached?

She is a nurse who has found her passion in writing and, also taken further steps to become an author.
Her words of inspiration will keep you attentive and glued to your seat. Let's find out more from Faith Izeghe, as she talks about the journey thus far and her latest books.

EPLUS the Storyteller:Welcome to E PLUS the Storyteller Blog.

We are excited to have you here.

Faith Izeghe: Thank you ma'am.

E PLUS The Storyteller: How can we describe Faith, without missing out anything?๐Ÿ˜Š

Faith Izeghe: ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€.
Faith is a godly person, easy-going, fun to be with, does not like cheating of any sort, but a semi introvert.  Loves reading and writing, seeing movies, caring for people, which makes her job as a nurse, a passion rather than a career. She also enjoys working with children, her closest friends are little children. She is also a motivational speaker, loves seeing people happy and, does no dwell on challenges.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Wow! Interesting, even more interesting is a nurse who is cutting a niche in WRITING..How are you able to combine both world?

Faith Izeghe: A Nurse is someone who is very versatile. She is in the middle of everything. If a patient needs anything, he calls on the Nurse, who in turn gets someone to attend to the Patient. Part of her job is documentation, so it makes it easy to write, since it is part of the profession thus combining Both world, is quite convenient.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Hmmm.. insightful๐Ÿ‘
So how would you describe your experience as a writer thus far?

Faith Izeghe: ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”
I have always been passionate about writing since my childhood. My experience thus far, has been great. I have learnt a lot, while writing. Writing has made me more knowledgeable.
 E PLUS the Storyteller: Great!
And now, people can actually read your books that are finally out on Okadabooks. Five awesome books in a roll, that's massive, please tell us more!
.
Faith Izeghe: Hmmm๐Ÿค”. I give all glory to God Almighty for his grace thus far. The books were written from an inspiration that was given to me by God Almighty. I also wrote them from experiences both at work and in meetings, amidst different  people. I wrote all five books, virtually at the same time.

E PLUS the Storyteller: Hmm.. that's quite interesting. One, would also  observe the uniqueness of all the titles of your books:
SURVIVAL..a tight grasp to life.
  MY GRAND MOTHER'S BURIAL.
IS FATE, A curse or a blessing?
PHEROMONES PERFUMES OF ATTRACTION(for men and women)

Are all these, deliberate titles?

Faith Izeghe: Yes.
'Survival(A Tight Grasp to Life)',
This book was written from my experience, while working with Medical male patients. I saw so many young men dying from meningitis especially when they were in coma. On one occasion, it was a Fifteen year-old, I saw him striving to survive, even in coma.

After several months of treatment, he survived. This is my inspiration. I saw how he struggled to survive and I knew it was indeed a tight grasp to life.

'My Grandmother's Burial' was written, when I travelled home and witnessed my grandmother's burial. It's a true life story. I decided to narrate my experience as I enjoyed and loved the Isoko culture and tradition. I have observed that, irrespective of Christianity, they hold the tradition in high esteem.

'His Fate':  A Blessing or a Curse. This is a powerful book. It was written when I came across a young boy who was being maltreated for accepting Christ. His parents made his life unbearable but his belief,  stood the test of time. His Fate is written to encourage new converts not to give up on their faith irrespective of what happens to them.

Pheromones Perfumes for Attraction. Hmmm!
As a nurse, I come across people who suffer from low self esteem and say that they don't look  attractive. A friend talked about how good and effective these perfumes that contain pheromone are and,  how they work wonders. So the writer in me was awaken and, I did some research, which resulted to this book.

E PLUS the Storyteller: Quite impressive.

Faith Izeghe: Thank you

E PLUS the Storyteller: Indeed, there is no doubt that  people are in, for a great time!

Faith Izeghe: Yes, they are.

E PLUS The Storyteller: So, where can we get your books?

Faith Izeghe: My books are Live on Okadabooks. Two of them, are for free.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Awesome๐Ÿ‘
Any word of advice, for aspiring writers/authors?

Faith Izeghe: I will just say that they should keep pushing. Persistence is key.  Once we don't give up, we will achieve our dreams.
EPLUS The Storyteller: Beautiful. How can you be reached?

Faith Izeghe: You can reach me on my WhatsApp No. 08060589362 and on my email Add @faithowolabii@gmail.com.
My Instagram handle @f.owolabi

E PLUS The Storyteller: Thank you.
Faith Izeghe, it's been such an insightful time with you on E PLUS the Storyteller Blog, the entire creative team congratulate you on your strides and wish you all the best in your endeavours., Hopefully, you will be here again, celebrating more conquest.

On this edition of MEET THE GUEST..hosted by E PLUS the Storyteller, a prolific writer and author will be taking us through his journey in the literary world, thus far.
  Enjoy the conversation....
Akintayo Akinjide

E PLUS The Storyteller: Now the name, Akintayo Akinjide rings so many bells, particular in the Creative industry, can you tell us all about it?

Akintayo Akinjide: Hmm... This ring a bell part baffles me o. But I must will just say I'm a lover of anything creative. But I focused on fiction, especially prose

E PLUS The Storyteller: Interesting...we are still curious..๐Ÿ™‚

Akintayo Akinjide: Well, I don't know anything to say other than the fact that I've authored several books and written a lot of short stories. One of them, A Dread in the Spine, was reviewed on Bella Naija, and for some odd reason, has made Google put the Author profile on my name.
Will that do?

E PLUS The Storyteller: Awesome!๐Ÿ‘ Now, how have these experiences influenced you, thus far?

Akintayo Akinjide: Deep question!
Although, I started writing in Primary 6, I officially wanted to be a published author in SS3. Why am I going there?
I made the decision to be an Author as I wrote Jamb, even when things became UTME and I had to re-sit the exam, I still had it at the back of my mind.
And it had really changed everything about the way I think and the way I thought. The only thing on my mind was the story I was writing at that moment, how to be better, how did this author write like this.. and this shaped my desire. I wrote a story that got me a bit of, on Nairaland. The Underground in the Library.
I didn't know many of my mates in the University were Nairalanders and, that made me keep tweaking and tweaking.
What it did eventually is that it exposed me to several reasons to have grits. I collected several motivational videos from a senior colleague, Damilola Adeniyu.
Then, I would read overnight for school and then listen to the videos for one hour. I won't lie that my academics were not affected, but I had two lecturers that saw it as something great. Dr Demola Lewis and Dr. Bankale of the department of Linguistics, University of Ibadan.  They encouraged me financially and Emotionally.
These two always made me feel like the best thing to happen in the world
Creativity made me think of people, have deep empathy. It did a lot that I'm not sure I can finish talking about. Most of all, it's feeding me.  I rest my case

E PLUS The Storyteller: Absolutely splendid๐Ÿ‘ At this point, can we talk extensively about the narrative that plays out in the Creative industry..

Akintayo Akinjide: What are we placing our focus on?

E PLUS The Storyteller: The entire craze of the digital influence.

Akintayo Akinjide: Well, that's a big matter that can't be quickly discussed in a hurry, but I will start from what I was telling a group of friends.
Creativity is such that would soon be done by AIs and people will only read out what they need to the AIs and a great story would be born, thus, the great story is not the end of it all. The end result of creativity is how to be relevant through the various aspects of the industry.

And the first aspect is publishing, in the present world, a lot of people are working on selfpublishing because that's the only way they won't die of depression. In some foreign countries, they allow agents to do the first influencing -How?  If an agent likes what he reads, he would then pitch to a traditional company, but in Nigeria, we don't have those intermediary and, also don't have enough publishing houses. The five major ones are also careful about what they allow.
By five major ones, I mean Kachifo (Farafina), Cassava Republic, Lantern, Quramo, and Parressia
Many of the others, are into selfpublishing. In foreign countries, it is also hard to become popular with foreign companies. but we have had numerous success like E.L James' Fifty Shade of Grey, James Redfield's Celestine Prophecy.
So, to hit it right in Nigeria, you need to be ready for work
and be strategic. Moreover, the motivation is poor. Family members are skeptical about what your creativity.  So, the major narrative to the Nigeria Creative Industry is for those that have grits and are strategic
Our Traditional Publishing houses are not ready to take more than two or three works that promote what the country wants or something that align with their system. Although Cassava Republic is trying hard to ensure the genre fiction work, they are not making much sales. The little they can do is to find their way into the school system. Consequently, they had to play a tight game by going ahead of Farafina and others to be the company that supplies literature texts for UTME. Their Ankara press is not as outstanding as the Mills and Boons of the days of old.

It's not their fault, everyone wants to read only the top author.
So, as an indie author, you must be ready to work like it's grave time. Summarily, our creative industry is such that you either have to conform to the system or, carve out a niche for yourself and have the patience for an eventual success because, even Tunde Leye is yet to win Nigeria Prize for literature.

Chimamanda's books are now finding their way into the University because of their international recognition. The past books that still discuss corruption in Nigeria or the war periods are those gracing the curriculum of the school. I don't know if we  are really dying to have the history that we think those stories will teach them.
Check University General Studies Texts, they are all books from the past, and for you to break out as an indie author, you will need to change your game. You can either travel out of the country or know someone important in the industry
Or, work till you know you have tried. I want to be one of the few that didn't give up by playing a smart and different game.
I rest my case.

E PLUS The Storyteller: This is absolutely insightful๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘
So who is your biggest influence?

Akintayo Akinjide: Oh!
All writers in the world... Charlie Brooker (a script writer for Black Mirror); Shonda Rhimes ( script writer and producer of How To Get Away With Murder, Scandal, Grey Anatomy. Then, I read Harry Potter series close to Fifty times. I love Chimamanda but, I've read just two of her works, these two I love and have watched their talk shows, motivational videos but the 'sule' in me is yet to read their works- Elizabeth Gilbert (Author of 'Eat, Love, And Pray) and Ted Dekkers.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Great!
And would you say that there is a distinction between indigenous writers and those abroad..?

Akintayo Akinjide: Like Indigenous ones and  Nigerian writers in Diaspora or, are you pitching Nigerian with Foreign ones?

E PLUS The Storyteller: Let's take them simultaneously..๐Ÿ™‚

Akintayo Akinjide: Okay. This is the major thing I noticed...  Our cultures and conversational styles. We find them more interesting, because we are not biased in their usage of the language,  but when we're reading ours,  we tend to expect perfection even characters are discussing. So, aside that, I think third systems too have a big role to play. From studies and movies, we know that they are always grilled to be excellent.
Thus, every little part is done to near perfection.
Our Traditional industry try to, too but, it's hard for indie authors.
They are constrained financially.
By the way, do you know Nigeria has a higher number of freelancers? In other words, many of the foreign works are now given to Nigerians to ghostwrite and edit.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Really? This is very revealing..๐Ÿค”

Akintayo Akinjide: Well, there is no statistics to cover that, because many of them are posing as foreigners, but I have sent close to 10 short stories this week, And I'm writing 5,  Three 5k-short stories and, 2-10k plus, books. I'm just saying, foreigners perceive us as great writers.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Amazing..
So what would you like to change in the system?

Akintayo Akinjide: We can only show the system. Nnedi Okafor for one, has started it but she's overseas.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Let's get more insight, please.

Akintayo Akinjide: Tunde Leye too and many others. To change anything in the system, I think we must understand that we have old dry fishes in the present world. You cannot easily penetrate their midst without trying to sound like them. So, what I think I will do is to have my works in connected series. Remember, Ali and Simbi?
We were left distraught when we got to secondary school and can't find their stories. Well, if not everyone, many of us still discuss them.
Authors that tried doing it might not have had a lot of success because the system feels they should reduce it bit, now, people are pining for series and that's what I want to bring into the system. I'll start from the fishes that are bendable i.e the Young one. Aim for people you can build your love in their hearts. If the adults enjoy it, fine but, my hope is to write a story these guys in the secondary school will enjoy, and can follow to the future.
So, I'm bringing patience, creativity, and voice of different genres to the system. If it becomes successful, it will have way for many others.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Brilliant๐Ÿ‘
So, one more question before you go. Passion or ...?

Akintayo Akinjide: Passion or the money...? But if nothing comes out, I want to leave fulfilled that I let go of the stories in me.
I sometimes feel depressed but I tell my friends that my 66+ stories are the only thing preventing me from committing suicide, that's why I feel committed to them.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Brilliant!
So, how can you be reached?

Akintayo Akinjide: For now, most of my work can be found here
https://www.smashwords.com/profile/view/Akintayoakinjide
but they can always reach me at
akintayoakinjide0@gmail.com

E PLUS The Storyteller: Brilliant..
It's been such an amazing time with you, Akintayo Akinjide. The entire E PLUS The Storyteller Creative team is, absolutely proud of your input in the Creative industry, we wish you all the best in your endeavour as you continue to soar higher..

Akintayo Akinjide: Thanks a lot. I really appreciate you for giving me the chance to ramble..

E PLUS The Storyteller: You're welcome.

It's another interesting edition of: MEET THE GUEST..hosted by E PLUS the Storyteller. Doris Adieme is a financial expert and a reputable accountant who knows her 'onion' quite well. Find out all the information you need to know about the Saving Culture as it relates to recent economic recession.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Doris Adieme, welcome to the exclusive chat interview platform tagged: MEET THE GUEST..hosted by E PLUS the Storyteller.

Doris Adieme: Thanks, Eplus.

E PLUS The Storyteller: It appears there seem to be so much complaints about the cost of living these days?

Doris Adieme: Yes that is true, everything is on the rise, even the aboki rendering service of a shoe cobbler on the streets of lagos, to the tomatoes seller in the market. Everyone is complaining, the economy isn't smiling either..

E PLUS The Storyteller: Hmmm..so what do we blame this development, on?

Doris Adieme: Inflationary trend in the economy. A situation where the prices of commodities are on the rise.

E PLUS The Storyteller: This definitely means, priorities need to be set down?

Doris Adieme: Certainly!

E PLUS The Storyteller: How do we curb ostentatious living, particularly where one lacks the discipline?

Doris Adieme: Ostentatious living  without discipline at this time  would  mean that the individual is walking on a 'slippery ground' without anything to hold on to., his fall is inevitable.
People would have to make concerted efforts and come to terms with the trend in the economy to make ends meet.

Conscious efforts to save in any form, could suffice in this case. Savings or investment which would yield meaningful returns on investment in the near future could be adopted to maintain the kind of life an individual wishes to have in the future.

 E PLUS The Storyteller: Insightful..
As an accountant, what are those observations you have made, in your dealings with business men and women!

Doris Adieme: Well, People react to things differently. I have had to deal with all kinds of people, but somehow,  I concluded that people would only act in a particular way, only because they are well exposed and knowledgeable in the field.

 E PLUS The Storyteller: Hmmm

Doris Adieme; A typical example is the man that has a shop at Alaba international market, Ordinarily , if you tell him to pay his tax as the law demands, he would naturally refuse, because he doesn't see the need to do that, but if he has a need that warrants him to get his tax clearance, he would do anything to get his tax clearance.

On the other hand,, a well informed individual , who runs a company sees it as a civic obligation to pay his taxes as and when due.

E PLUS The Storyteller: So, as a financial expert, how would you generally rate saving habits, in your encounter with people?

Doris Adieme: Savings on this side of the world is generally low,and that is because of the low per capita income of individuals as against what is obtainable in developed countries.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Hmmm.. quite revealing.  Now, the question is...How do one cultivate a steady saving culture against all odds?

Is it even feasible?

Doris Adieme: well, its not impossible to save , it just to make conscious effort to make it happen.

The current financial institution have aided this in a way, the banks and non bank financial institutions have means to make this happen for individuals who are willing to take the bull by the horn.  All that is needed, is to walk in to any of the banks or non bank financial institution , make enquiries and take up a plan that best suits your purpose, and before long , it becomes a lifestyle. Even in agriculture, a farmer never consumes all the proceeds from the farm.

He reserves some to be planted for the next season, so that all year round, there is something to harvest. This is the same way savings aids us to achieve our desired purpose.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Awesome!
Doris Adieme.. it's been such an insightful chat interview, here on MEET THE GUEST.

The entire Creative team of E PLUS the Storyteller, is profoundly grateful for your time. We wish you all the best  in your endeavours.

Doris Adieme: Thank you Eplus.

FOOD-LAW-MANIA...hosted by Adejare Azeezat Ifemide.
GARNISH:
{FOOD}
 v.
GARNISH

{LAW}

We're largely familiar with the action word that is attributed to the act of making our meals more presentable and inviting…

However, did you know, the word ‘garnish' is not a verb peculiar to food only?

“Garnish” in relation to food, is a verb which means to decorate, adorn, enhance, beautify, or embellish different food dishes.
“Garnish” in relation to Law, means to warn or give notice of a legal judgement to a third party, to pay money owing to a debtor, directly to the creditor. Under this circumstance, anyone owing money to the debtor (against whom judgement is made), will not be paying the amount owed to the debtor. Rather, payment of the owed amount will be to a third party, whom the debtor is also owing money to, by virtue of a court judgment.

While the former is beheld with joy and enthusiasm (otherwise known as the “longthroat" feeling), the latter on the contrary, is not a very palatable situation to be in, as it is a form of enforcing a court judgment against a willing debtor who otherwise, has no means of making good the judgment debt, or an unwilling judgment debtor, from whom the judgement debt needs to be forcefully obtained.

May we only ‘garnish’ and not be ‘garnisheed’!

Can I get an ‘amen'?

LET’S ALL BE MAD BUT, BE NOT MAD.
Poem, written by Azeezat Ifemide .

Are They Mad?
They’re “western”, from the saner climes; they colonized a region and ruled by instilling unimaginable fear on the ‘subjects’; they segregate the people based on their skin color and social status, rained terror on the land, leaving everyone terrified of experiencing Nightfall in Soweto…
Are They Mad?
They light creatures of like-kind on fire, watching with satisfaction, as life seeped out of the victim in the most horrific manner! They justify their dastardly act, claiming these creatures have enjoyed “better prosperity” on their land, and therefore deserve to burn! “How dare they?” they ask.
Now, I ask…
“How dare you?”
Who do you pay, for the oxygen that you inhale and carbondioxide you exhale?
Who do you pay, for roaming the large expanse of land, on which you build, multiply and chase your dreams?
Who do you pay, for the sunshine and the rainfall that take turns to provide you comfort when you need it the most?
Is any man an island on his own!?

Are We Mad?
We respond in the exact same manner we speak vehemently against; becoming exactly what we condemn! Burning down buildings and businesses owned or co-owned by our very own; rendering our own already under-employed citizens jobless in the process. We create unrest in our own land, making a mockery of the unique privilege of experiencing a violent free independence of our motherland…
Am I Mad?
I am mad at the leaders, who have ruled and continue to rule my motherland; exchanging the baton of power as though they were running a relay race, and ruling the country with the same level of cluelessness, recklessness and irresponsibility!
I am mad at the leaders who have turned my motherland into a subject as well as, an object of ridicule that its own citizens would rather not reckon or be associated with.
I am mad at the leaders who have made successful citizens with admirable jobs, leave everything behind and flee the country under the ‘guise’ of migration, for a minus 45 degrees temperate region to rather earn a living doing ‘odd’ jobs on multiple shifts, just because the system at least, works!
I am mad at the followers, who have given in to the faulty system and would rather scam another, of their hard earned money; treating national currencies with total disregard, acting with reckless abandon!
I am mad at the followers, who have defaced my fellow resourceful, resilient and unbreakable-spirited citizens around the world, and renamed us in the most distasteful of ways!
Am I mad?
Yes, I dey mad over my beautiful country, Nigeria, a land overflowing with abundance of milk and honey. A 200 million population of the most versatile melanin dripping people, who ever graced the face of the earth!
I dey mad over the “ginger”, and the swag, and the ‘never give up’ attitude of my countrymen, which is responsible for the default statement that “oozes” from their mouths even in the most difficult situations:
“We die here!!”

I dey mad over my country, the preferred hub, which women from every race would raher marry from; I dey mad over the distinctness of the Kente, the Ankara, and the Adire fabrics, adorned by the most proportionate and sumptuous bodies of voluptuous women,
 wey set die!!!

I dey mad over the robust African culture, the richest in the world, I dare say, expressed in Arts, in Craft, in Folklore, in Clothing, in Cuisine, in Music, and in several beautiful Languages.
I dey mad over the courageous and fearless bursting of the azonto, the etigi, and more recently, the shakushaku dance moves on the biggest and most prestigious stages across the world, in celebration of outstanding excellence!
I dey mad over the ‘baddest’ combination of the silkiest Amala, the slimiest Ewedu, the smoothest Gbegiri, and the rich local flavor of the palm oil stew, cooked  firewood style!
I dey mad over the healthy contest between different versions of jollof, which has only ensured we an even wider variety of cuisine from Africa, to the world!
At the end of the day: We’re all mad here!
However, let’s all be mad but, be not mad…

*********************************** On this edition of MEET THE GUEST..hosted by E PLUS the Storyteller... Ufuoma Adegor is our guest and her story is quite inspiring.
The young and talented lady tells us all about the make-up and Fashion industry..Read on.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Miss Ufuoma.. welcome to E PLUS the Storyteller Blog

Ufoma Adegor: Thank you

E PLUS The Storyteller: Will you agree with me that the fashion trend in Nigeria, is really booming?

Ufoma Adegor: Yes it is. Looking back at where we’re coming from the fashion trend has taken a new turn.

E PLUS The Storyteller: How would you describe the current trends in comparison with the previous ones?

Ufoma Adegor: In my word I’ll say we are bringing the old trend back.

 E PLUS The Storyteller: Interesting.
People say looking good is an act, others say it's an art? Where do you draw the line?

Ufoma Adegor: People call dressing almost nude, an art but a person can dress chic and still represent the two concepts.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Awesome๐Ÿ‘.What are the different styles, you would recommend?

Ufoma Adegor: In terms of dressing, I suggest that you just be modest in your dressing. My go-to outfit will be a crop top and jeans.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Any tip on makeup, considering that many women really get it mixed up?

Ufoma Adegor: Apply less foundation, and the key is: moisturizing your face before wearing any makeup, and also cleanse before going to bed.

E PLUS The Storyteller: As one who has a passion for BEAUTY and FASHION, what's your story thus far.

Ufoma Adegor: Well I started makeup professionally, when I was in the university, I got paid by my fellow student. I’ve always loved fashion, I sleep and breathe fashion. I love trying new things( I love playing dress up). Career wise, I’m a freelance makeup artist, trying to make myself known, in a nutshell I’m still on a journey.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Interesting. How would you rate the level of acceptance in Nigeria, with regards to employing a make up artist for events?

Ufoma Adegor: I’m actually impressed with the acceptance. Makeup artist are literally, taking over and they are not only doing that but, the result at the end of the day is satisfactory to the customers. So as for the acceptance, makeup has come to stay.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Do you have a makeup routine?

Ufoma Adegor: Well not really, but my routine after makeup is taking my makeup off with my coconut oil and having a deep cleanse. After that, I apply my night cream beachside I’m literary battling with acne. Most of the time I’m on my bare face, I only put on makeup when I really feel the need to.

 E PLUS The Storyteller: Hmm..
So does the term: 'Looking good, is good Business' resonates with you? And do you have a video illustration for any of your makeup tips?

Ufoma Adegor: I am working on  few things now, but once I’m through you’ll be the first to know.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Okay.. great! What's the best tip you can give on looking good?

Ufoma Adegor: Like I said early, dress smart, smell good and you’re good to go!

 E PLUS The Storyteller: Awesome..
What would you say to people who are interested in the fashion and makeup Industry?

Ufoma Adegor: To be known in the industry, it takes continuity and ability to master your craft. Continue until you’re known.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Very apt. How can Miss Ufuoma be reached?

Ufoma Adegor: I could be reached on Instagram @mz_modella

E PLUS The Storyteller: It was great having you on MEET THE GUEST...

On this edition of MEET THE GUEST..hosted by E PLUS the Storyteller, an entrepreneur extraordinaire tells us all about her brand and her journey to self discovery. Let's find out more from Our banjo Yetunde Basirat..You don't want to miss this!

E PLUS The Storyteller: You're welcome to this edition of *MEET THE GUEST* hosted by E PLUS the Storyteller.

Oyebanjo Yetunde Basirat: Thank you E plus๐Ÿ˜Š

E PLUS The Storyteller: Would it be correct to describe you as  a multifaceted entrepreneur?

Oyebanjo Yetunde Basirat: Yes. It will be very correct because, I have actually been involved in series of ventures, though they are all within the food and fashion industry but I'm also delving into other lines, now.๐Ÿ˜
E PLUS The Storyteller: How interesting..Please tell us, all about it.๐Ÿ™‚

Oyebanjo Yetunde Basirat๐Ÿ˜.
Well...on my own, my first business was during or after my one year industrial training in year 2000..can't remember specifically.

I started selling jewelries, hair accessories and the likes. I'll take it to my bosses at Nigerian Bottling Company Head office in Oyingbo (That's where I had my industrial training)and then I also sold to my colleagues at school. When I returned for my HND.

It was so much fun because sometimes, I sold out at my first point and would head back to Eko Idumota to restock immediately.

My friends usually  call me Yeye Oge (Mother of beautification), because I sold everything you need to look beautiful from head to toe In terms of jewelries and accessories.
Now! I remember again.

I and one of my friends, Tosin Anifowoshe often went to katangwa market in Abule egba to buy fairly but neatly used beautiful, sexy nightwears and other wears. We would wash, iron and spray them with perfume and pack them in nylons for sale.

And we made very good sales then. ๐Ÿ˜
Then, after HND, pre- NYSC, I also ran a phone call centre for my mum and I had so many phone.

That was 2002...when maintaining a phone was still a 'big man thing'. Those days you had to spend 1500 compulsorily monthly๐Ÿ˜.

I would target the very early morning hours before my competitors opened...and I will catch all the customers and also wait untill late, at night๐Ÿ˜.

I enjoyed it all because I received patronage and was making sales๐Ÿ˜‰
Then it was time for NYSC. I was posted to zamfara state.

My mum would help me buy bags, undies, jewelries etc from China town in Lagos... Do you know China town? They had one in Ikoyi and another by Alapere along the Ogudu expressway.
And I made sales!

I just love selling market.๐Ÿ˜
When I was returning to Lagos after NYSC, I came back with Jalabiyyah, from the north for sale at home in the South west. I also continued the business briefly by going to Moshalasi Jimoh in Eko Idumota to restock after I had exhausted the ones I brought from Zamfara. I can't remember how...but I found myself selling Islamic CDs๐Ÿคฃ
I think once I find something beneficial and I believe people will like it and I also see that I can buy at a price and sell making some small gain...my head just says..you can sell it๐Ÿ˜.

I got employed with a federal government parastatal in 2006 and I remember I sold CDs to my Muslim colleagues at work.

Then in December 2007, order came from above to relocate the head office of my organisation to Abuja and I was among those transferred to Abuja๐Ÿ˜.
I arrived in Abuja 1st January 2008. We settled down after some weeks and, I craved my Ijebu Garri. I requested for, and bought various versions of fake Ijebu Garri.
I'm a full blooded Ijebu woman and I have taken Ijebu Garri all my life so I can tell good garri from the looks, the aroma and then the taste.

After all the experiments with fake Ijebu Garri, I told myself as usual๐Ÿคฃ,  "I can sell this. I'm sure there are some other people looking for this garri like me too."

Gba! I travelled to Lagos in December 2008 and headed for my home town, Ijebu Ode. I bought some bags of garri and myself and the bags of garri returned to Abuja together.๐Ÿ˜ That was it!

Elubo Amala (Yam flour), honey beans and a host of other things joined the Ijebu garri and today we have Basty Foods.๐Ÿ˜
E PLUS The Storyteller: Wow!!!!๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป...This is so amazing!!!! Now, we can put facts and figures to the Story of Basty Foods.

Oyebanjo Yetunde Basirat: ๐Ÿ˜ Thank you.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Would you say that passion propels you more than the financial reward or both are at per in the course of pursuing your goals?

Oyebanjo Yetunde Basirat: Sincerely, I'll say it's passion o. Financial rewards are secondary. Though the financial rewards may be motivating and encouraging too but sincerely, I just love trading and solving problems.
This passion pushed me to the extent that, last year, with two broken legs, I'll ask the people around me to help arrange my products call delivery agent and use my 'supposed gain' on the sales to pay delivery agent to supply these products to my customers.
I didn't want them to become stranded because of my little challenges.
You can see it's not about the financial gain. But, sincerely, I look forward to seeing this business grow financially  to enable me pay my bills๐Ÿ˜.
E PLUS The Storyteller: Hmmm..very profound. With your experience thus far, how can you evaluate the business industry now? Any challenge?

Oyebanjo Yetunde Basirat: Hmmm..well...different challenges for different industries at different times.
Introducing a new product in a new place is one, and also getting people to try it...you may need to give some free tasting or samples in some cases.
Sourcing for quality foods may be another challenge, considering the different ways people cut corners to make profit and I've not started planting myself. I'm actually talking about the beans in this area. The use of preservatives and sourcing from farmers who do not use preservatives.
Even at my end as a retailer, preservation is an issue. I have run into losses with my beans when they got infested with weevils because my freezer (which I use to preserve it.) got spoilt.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Hmmm.. insightful! So beyond the financial aspect, it's expedient for any business man or woman to understand the dynamics behind the business?

Oyebanjo Yetunde Basirat: Yes...very important. Your understanding will determine the degree of falls and mistakes you'll make. It's always good to have a mentor too (if possible). Someone already experienced in the field-who can guide you.

Though, people see things more, in terms of competition but, with patience and consistency, you'll find guidance.
It's good to ask questions and do your own research. Also, don't be too secretive. Even if you think someone wants to steal your idea,

Can they steal your implementation strategy? Your marketing style, your customer service deals? You're unique in your own way.

I remember when I wanted to start selling the Garri, the lady I met there asked me where I wanted to sell, I told her Abuja and she gave me a piece of advice that is saving me great losses.
Ijebu garri is in grades. With my supplier, they have 2 grades, No 1 and No 2. Both are good garri but with slight  difference... I think in the processing, No 1 is more expensive than No 2.

Initially, I bought more of No 2 because I believed it will move faster because, it is cheaper.
Then, she advised me to buy more of No 1 and I listened.
Guess what? I sold all the 2 bags of grade 1 garri that I bought while, I  struggled to sell a quarter of the grade 2.

Each time people tastes both, they opted for grade 1.
At a point, I stopped going out with the grade 2 because people were not buying it!

I had to consume that grade 2 myself o! I ate that Garri for 2 years.
And with that experience, I can also tell people that my garri has a shelf life of two years...tested and trusted๐Ÿ˜‰

Also, apart from quality, understanding pricing dynamics is expedient. Being able to source good quality at best prices so you can also sell at competitive price while still making your own profit, is key.

Knowing your costs too, is very important in business. Some people are in business and they do not understand their costs at all. Cost of phone calls, data, even packaging nylon is important. No cost is negligible.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Wow! Basty..you are such a wealth of knowledge and this speak volumes of how you render your services.
Any plan to train people who might have interest in venturing into the same business?

Oyebanjo Yetunde Basirat: No concrete plans on ground now, though I share what I know and have interactions with anyone, who approaches me but, wait! maybe I feel I do not know much yet so I still invest in learning seriously.
However, now that you mentioned it, as usual๐Ÿคฃ, I'll be considering it๐Ÿ˜.
In the very near future, God willing. I'm so excited about myself and what I see myself doing in the near future.
I learnt 3D animation recently and I've started training people.

I just trained my first batch of students last week and we'll be rounding up the one week follow up session this weekend. It has been fun!
It is fun teaching what I know and it is even more fulfilling seeing your students implement what you've taught them. That is the sweetest part of it.
So, with my knowledge of 3D animation now, I will most likely be delving into creating videos for entreprenuers๐Ÿ˜ and also training those who want to learn to do it by themselves.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Awesome๐Ÿ‘ It's quite commendable how you are effectively harnessing resources to break all fonts. So tell us all about your products in a nutshell and how you can be reached?

*************************************
Apart from being the Queen of Poetry, this is one woman who leaves a remarkable and lasting impression on you, everything you hear her talk.
Ifeoma Ndiolo has so much to say, particularly on the latest books she just launched online. You don't want to miss this!

E PLUS The Storyteller: Welcome Ifeoma Ndiolo to E PLUS the Storyteller Blog..we are so excited to have you..

 Ifeoma Ndiolo: Thank you.

E PLUS The Storyteller: It's inevitable to talk about poetry without Ifeoma Ndiolo in the picture and this speaks volume of your how you've successfully created a niche for yourself.. What's your inspiration?

Ifeoma Ndiolo: My inspiration is God. He inspires me, the words come and I write. I am only his messenger. I write about life, love and living.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Awesome.

Your poems are very captivating and they have strong characters, so much so that they speak to the readers from various dimensions..is this deliberate?

Ifeoma Ndiolo: Thank you. I write from the passion I feel. I communicate from the depths of my heart and since you find them captivating, that means I succeeded in communicating. It’s poetry and when poetry speaks, everyone is supposed to understand. I am also inspired by people, events and my environment. I write about what I see, experience and what other people experience

E PLUS The Storyteller: Hmm.. insightful..

Ifeoma Ndiolo: Thank you.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Because of writers like you, the art of Poetry is taking a new dimension, poetry is being demystified by every count of the word

How do you sync this with the reality of time in our present world where things can be quite complicated?

Ifeoma Ndiolo: Life should not be complicated. I actually do not agree that things are being more complicated. Rather, technology is making a whole lot of complex things easier. When it comes to poetry, some people believe that to write poetry you must employ the use of complex grammar and make it difficult to understand, I don’t. If poetry is not understood, it is not
communicated.

Communication is very important to me and I believe in using the easiest words to understand. Please don’t get me wrong. I know it’s so easy for someone like me to be misunderstood. I am not saying that figures of speech should not be employed to write poetry. They must be, because they bring meaning to poetry and add beauty and life to poems but they can be done in less complex ways.

E PLUS The Storyteller๐Ÿ‘. Now, let's look at the latest release of your two books...

Echoes from Within and Rhythms from the Heart..

That's some master piece of Poetry..When did you get the inspiration for these collections?

Ifeoma Ndiolo: I started writing them in 2013. I knew I will publish them some day but didn’t know when. I kept writing more and adding until now. While launching my other books, I usually pick some of the poems and dramatize them to make some valid points... I call it “Bringing Poetry to Life” and the reaction was always awesome. I am glad they are finally out and I am waiting for the world to enjoy two collections that took 7 years to compose.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Wow! Certainly, worth the wait.

Ifeoma Ndiolo: I totally hope so.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Poems like: 'Welcome Home'
'Lagos Traffic'
'Sunday' are some of the outstanding poems in these collections. Would we say that your versatility has influenced your poetic prowess greatly?

Ifeoma Ndiolo: Well, if you say so. I totally enjoyed writing those poems. I do not restrain myself in any way when I write, I just let it flow as it comes. I am sure you like them because you can identify with them. Everyone can. As children, we used to look forward to wearing our beautiful clothes to church on Sunday and eating rice on Sunday afternoons. It was such a special day and still is.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Yes, sure still is๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜Š.

How relevant is 'Echoes from Within' and 'Rhythms from the heart' to the human experience?

Ifeoma Ndiolo: They are so relevant that everyone can relate to the experiences in many of the poems especially Nigerians who either visit or live in Lagos. We all know what has been going on in Nigeria.. from bad governance to lack of  development, to insecurity especially kidnapping and killings by herdsmen, ethnicity, discrimination and victimizations as well as neglect of our educational institutions and healthcare.

I also write a lot about upholding the dignity of women and protecting the girl child from rape, abuse or early marriage. I believe that the female child deserves an equal opportunity and has a voice which must be heard.

E PLUS The Storyteller: This is quite  commendable.

Ifeoma Ndiolo: Thank you

E PLUS the best: So, how can Ifeoma Ndiolo be reached?

Ifeoma Ndiolo: I can be reached on ifeomagoldfish@gmail.com,

Dynamic, innovative and trendy simply fits the description of this woman who has cut a niche for herself. Her brand caters for diverse needs thus sets her apart.
Take a full glance into the world of Hilda .C. Chukwuma, the C.E.O and brand manager of Le Passionate Flame on this interesting and insightful chat interview.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Great to have you on Ejiro Story blog and the inspirational blog.

Hilda .C. Chukwuma: Thank you! It's a great pleasure!

E PLUS The Storyteller: Would it be right to say that you are one woman who is into the business of making women look and feel good?
Hilda .C. Chukwuma: You can say that again!
I sell a whole lot of women's items ranging from cosmetics both organic and inorganic, bags and shoes, wrists watches, auto gele e.t.c

E PLUS The Storyteller: The name Le Passionate Flame speaks volumes of the passion you have for your business, tell us  about how it all began?

Hilda .C. Chukwuma: I have sold all my life, I have passion for selling and impacting people's life through what I do!

I started selling as a kid in my mother's shop(my mother is an industrious woman and I learnt a lot from her) after secondary school,  I joined my sister to Ochanga and main market to buy shoes, slippers and beads. I started with less than three thousand naira then, back in Owerri.

During Nysc I would buy and travel back to the east. When I started working I still continued though with no capital I will buy and sell, then spend the money again. I will wait until I get funds and still buy and spend again.

I just had to sell something at anytime. I also registered on jumia just because I love to sell.

E PLUS The Storyteller: As the brand manager of Le passionate Flame, how can you describe the feedback from customers thus far.

Hilda .C. Chukwuma: It's been fantastic thus far! Though a few not fantastic feedback as you cannot please everybody. But it's been a 90% fantastic feedback.

I have a good relationship with customers I meet one-on-one and those I do not meet I try to leave a lasting impression. It's been fantastic and I have built my business in trust.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Tell us more about your auto gele, looks like it's getting more trendy these days.

Hilda .C. Chukwuma:
Auto gele was inspired by my child, Zikoranachidinma. It's a new found love.

I have not really been a native person all my life. After having my baby I decided to change a lot of things! I would have worn an evening dress to her dedication. I decided to go a different route. Her birth changed a lot of things for me.

So selling it to make people look very beautiful makes me happy.

Not economising materials while doing the auto gele, gives our customers a full gele.

I partnered with a friend though and success rate for the gele has been tremendous as some have been shipped outside Nigeria (though solely done by my partner). I love the auto gele. It's beautiful and gives you the perfect look for events.

I decided to make people look great too.

E PLUS The Storyteller: What motivates you?

Hilda .C. Chukwuma: What keeps me motivated are few things!

I want to make a difference,

I don't want to die poor!

I have responsibilities, coming from a family of seven where my mom and dad (God bless his soul ) have suffered a lot to make ends meet. I don't want to have my children go through what I have gone through!

Finally, doing a white collar job, I can be sent packing anytime and there is no job security in Nigeria.

E PLUS, the Storyteller: Are you opened to more partnership, like more investors in the business?

Hilda .C. Chukwuma: Sure!

E PLUS The Storyteller: How would you rate your prices at le passionate Flame?

Hilda .C. Chukwuma: Prices are affordable and pocket friendly. Any one can afford.
I make sure people can afford what I sell no matter the financial status! Coming from not being able to afford a lot of things myself back then.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Any special discount this yuletide period?
Absolutely. We have fantastic discount this season! 15%discount on all products uploaded on our instagram page.

23% discount on all body care/skin glow set.

BEAUTY IN THE MIDSTS OF ASHES

A Novel written by Ejiro Emenike Ukaumune.

Ughelli is a very beautiful city and its people, very hospitable. Most of the men and women worked very hard to make ends meet.

Each household embraces virtue and integrity, especially amongst the women. Little wonder, men trope in, from far and near to find for themselves suitable wives. Though, most of the older generations are less educated, the younger ones strive very hard to fend for themselves through school while few parents still contributes to see their children through.

Onome, was the only girl amongst seven children and they all lived with their parents.

just like any other child, She hoped to read to the highest level before settling down. Her brothers, on the other hand, cared less.

Onome, in her teens had already began to make way for her dreams. She would attend all her classes while her mates spent most of their time playing games behind the school fence. She made sure she finished her assignments.

Onome dreamt of studying architecture. Often she would visit the school library, sit with big text books and  view the houses drawn on them.

Usually, she visualized herself designing similar structures and then she would just smile.

"Eh hen! I know she would be here. See! she has started smiling that her smile again"

One of her friends said as all four of them bumped into each other at the library.

Ochuko, Peres, Deborah and Adesuwa were Onome's friends. They actually thought Onome's ambition was farfetched.

"Look, Onome, dis your big big books you always carry, na wa oo!'Said Adesuwa.

"Anyway, the principal wants to see you" Ochuko said.

Onome sat up, a little nervous.

        "Me?" She asked.

"Yes na! no be you be Onome?" Peres said as they all laughed...

"Why is she calling me?" Onome asked again.

"Maybe because you stole her meat" Ochuko replied..

Onome looked lost for a while.

"Which meat!?" She asked.

There was momentary silence then, the girls burst out in laughter.

 Onome's countenance lit up.

"You girls ehn! Why are you like this? Stop all these your expensive jokes, jare!" Onome said.

" . . . Okay . . We were just joking but really the principal wants to see you and she did not give us any reason. She just asked us to call you" Adesuwa said.

"Okay, let me just drop this book" Onome said as she headed back to the shelf where she had picked the book from.

Her mind pondered over why the principal wanted to see her but one thing was sure, each time the principal wanted to see anyone, it was either for good or bad! She braced up herself and followed her friends down to the staff office.

Arriving at the staff premises, some teachers were already heading for their classes, Lunch break was over.

The girls entered the principal's office.

"Ma, she is here" The girls chorused.

The principal, who was by this time bent over her file, looked up and adjusted her eye glasses over her nose. She was fond of doing that particularly when in a very serious mood.

"Okay, you girls can leave. Let me have a word with Onome" She said.

"Okay ma" The girls choruses and left.

Onome stood in front of the principal as if she was in an army recruiting camp.

"Onome, how are you?" The principal said as she handed her an envelop . . .

Onome took the envelop and starred at it.

"Go ahead, open it" The principal instructed.

Onome, with both hands shaking, opened the envelop slowly.

She brought out a white sheet and waited for further instruction by the principal.

“Go ahead! go ahead!" She beckoned on her to open it.

Onome opened the sheet and began to read:

AN INVITATION BY GREAT COLLEGE!

We are pleased to offer one of your students, (Onome Oghenetega) to our quarterly Technical Drawing symposiums. We find it quite impressive that she was able to perform exceptionally well at the Technical Drawing mock examination.

We belief that her attendance at this program would enhance her technical prowess and prepare her further for future encounter.

We crave your indulgence to accept our invitation.

            GREAT COLLEGE ๐ŸŽ“ .

Onome finished reading the letter and then, she stood still for a while with her head shyly bowed. The principal smiled.

"Onome, ain't you happy?" She asked.

"Really ma, I am surprised.

"I know but you should be proud and happy that you are already standing out. Great colleague is a very good school in the big city so you are already on your way for exposure." The principal said.

Onome knew that, coming from her principal, that was certain.

"Thank you ma" Onome said as she tried to put herself together.

"Tell your parents to see me tomorrow so that we can start making plans" The principal said.

"Okay ma" Onome said.

As she left the office and for her class, her mind sank. She wondered what her parents would think.

Her mum? Okay . . . maybe not much of a problem but her dad! Hmmmm . . . he had so much traditional beliefs barricading his mind. Onome just prayed quietly.

Onome in the company of her friends were on their way home and they all chatted.

"Ehn ehn, Onome na wa for you oo . . . you no come tell us wetin principal call you for"Ochuko teased.

"That's true ooo" Deborah added.

Feeling reluctant, Onome just smiled.

"Ah han! Onome! You've started again, just tell us nau, stop hiding things!" Adesuwa exclaimed.

After much teasing by her friends, Onome spilled the beans.

"Okay . . okay, it is just...

This is the prayer of King David, the renowned Psalmist; the man after God's heart and it should be ours too for everyone that God has used to bless us in one way or the other.
This beautiful prayer is captured in the new single 'Shout for Joy', by Tayo Bamgbose (remix). Check it out, follow the link below:

      NOTES FROM THE ADMIN
Before writing these notes, i have been struggling with the phrase to start with. Should it be “This was a journey” or “This is a journey”. The word “was” makes it sound like the journey has come to an end, finito, concluded etc but that is not the true position. Using the word “is” makes it sound like the journey is ongoing, which indeed is the case. Ah!! That is the right phrase.
This is a journey that started one hundred and sixty-four weeks (164) ago when the initial idea of running a blog was conceived. The idea was born out of passion and putting spare time into effective use. We commenced actual blogging, with our first post exactly three (3) years ago. This was, no, is exactly fourteen (14) days after it was born.
However, during the journey, we overcame bumps here and there; navigated around obstacles, checkpoints and crossed bridges to where we are right now; without removing the feet from the accelerator. We can say with smiles on our faces that the journey has been interesting.
At this point we should pat ourselves at the back; raise our hands in worship to HIM that has been with us all through the journey. While in the mood of worship (except for him that has his feet on the accelerator), we mime to our very own song “Yes To Your Will” by e-plus (Ejiro Emenike Ukaumune: the story teller). If you are interested in the song, which i believe you should because the song, “Yes To Your Will” , is a deeply soulful track that reaches for the depth of human spirit in worship and submission. The worship single is available on the following online stores:
Moreover, before we went into deep worship, we received encouraging text messages from those that just finished reading our book “Diamond and Stones”. The book “Diamond and Stones” is a fictional novel that gives account of series of events of a young woman named Tricia (the main character). These events culminates into feelings of mistrust, betrayal, anxiety, suspicion and vengeance. At the tail end, the suspense filled, mysterious novel is unravelled. To get your own copy on Okada book store, follow this link: http://okadabooks.com/book/about/diamond_and_stones/12998 We still have more where that came from; so expect more books from the story teller. Let me hint you on the next book coming out from the stable of The Story Teller; the novel title is “BEAUTY FOR ASHES”. Watch out!
Furthermore, now that schools has resumed our creative writing mentorship classes will zoom off in full gear. Our experience in this area has really shown that there are great potential in the younger generation. The future is really bright. I would have love to mention some of these talents but because of obvious reasons i would not be able to do that. For our sponsors so far on creative writing, we say thank you. For your books donations and gracing our mentorship classes with your presence. The likes of Mr. Okechukwu Ofili ( CEO of Okada Books), Mr. Ayokunle Stilo Oni (author of  GAPS) and Mr. Emeyazia Iwediokpulu Chukwudi (Poet: author of THE JOURNEY TO SIGNIFICANCE).
Being in the class watching those children displaying raw gifted talent is so encouraging. We are convinced, that, more needs to be done.
We are also using this medium to say thank you to everyone who has featured in the past and currently during the third anniversary.
At this point, we need to overhaul our engine and carry out maintenance services. This will enable us to come out bigger, better and more appealing to our viewers. We are not yet where we want to be in the next couple of years. In the nearest future we will definitely get there.
In line with our bigger, better and more appealing projection, we have acquired our own domain name; www.ejiroemenikeuka.com. To be launched soon; sooner than you think.
Once again, i say thank you all.

                                                THE STORY TELLER;S WORSHIP SONG

*No! She cannot be part of us! After all she did! What will the Deacons Board say? What will the elders say! In fact she should be suspended from the Choir! and let her be   banned from Church activities!" The Pastor's wife lamented while she and her husband had dinner. The Pastor drank his water as he remained quiet. His wife was quite taken aback by his gesture. She stopped eating and stared at him long enough until she spoke again. "You're not saying anything!" She exclaimed. After few seconds, her husband turned to her and smiled. "Sweetheart, what has she done?" The Pastor asked. His wife stared at him with disbelief and contempt. "What has she done!? Are you asking what she has done!? Even the entire Church knows what this lady has done! How can you feign ignorance? Please o! As the Pastor of the Church you must act fast o! Let her not enter the Church from today onwards!" The Pastor's wife said firmly. "...but she was was raped! are we not suppose to minister to her now? She needs every word of encouragement at this point!..." The Pastor said. His wife remained silent for a while. "...but...don't you see the way she dresses? Even her hair style..she even has this proud look..she sings like she is better than  other choristers in the Church..abegi! She asked for what happened to her jare!!" The Pastor's wife exclaimed. At that moment, he stopped eating and stood up. "All have sinned and come short of the Glory of God!" "Let he without sin be the first to cast the stone!" "It is God's will that we all come to 'Repentance!" "When last did you reach this lady since the was raped? Is it enough to sit here and judge? Since when did God make us judges over others?" The Pastor lamented. His wife remained quiet. Then suddenly there was a frantic knock at the Door. The Pastor headed to open the Door and a young man stood there, panting like he was almost out of breath. "Pastor! Pastor! Please  come over, she just attempted suicide!" The young man lamented. Immediately, The.  Pastor picked his car keys and headed out! Everyone had assembled for the Church Service and it was time for Choir ministration. The Pastor stood before the congregation and spoke. "We thank  God for this day. We thank God for his Grace and Mercy. Weeks ago, she was accused, judged, condemned and abandoned and she wanted to take her own life! However, God has taken over...Our sister is here today and wants to sing to God for giving her another chance! Immediately she stepped forward and took over the Mic. As she stood before the congregation, everything changed. She felt the hand of God upon her and she just dropped on her knees and cried: "Yes to Your Will Lord! Lord I'm available for you!...*"

   Being  Blessed is a Potential
          By Pastor Yinka Akintunde

A story by E PLUS the storyteller..
Recipe:  Yam
              Plantain
Native black fish (or any fish of your choice.) You can include beef, goat meat or chicken.
You need the native peppersoup spice or simply buy the packaged one(already grounded.), Crayfish, grounded dried pepper, onion, little akawu and salt.(You can add maggi- I don't cook with Maggi.)

Cooking process.

Cook the beef, goat meat or chicken well enough.

Cut the yam and unripe plantain in moderation.

Wash and put them in a measurable amount of water, add adequate salt and allow to heat up for a minute, add the grinded peppersoup spice and the grinded dried pepper(you can also include the boiled beef/goat meat /chicken.), add the dried native fish. Close the pot and allow all the recipes to boil.

In few minutes, you will begin to percieve the irresistible native aroma from your kitchen.

At E PLUS kitchen, we love to save the best for last so when the UKODO is almost done, blend or beat the onion and crayfish together (this is why my UKODO taste very unique.) and add it to the boiling pot of UKODO!

At this point just drop a little amount of akawu(this is optional, you can leave the akawu out for those who can't tolerate akawu.) After two minutes, your delicious UKODO is ready to serve!
*************************************

You can eat UKODO anyday, anytime.
UKODO is an ideal meal for nursing mothers. It also helps burn out excess deposits in the body.
