Meet IFEOMA NDIOLO on MEET THE GUEST with E PLUS The Storyteller ✍๐Ÿฟ (Part 1)

Apart from being the Queen of Poetry, this is one woman who leaves a remarkable and lasting impression on you, everything you hear her talk.
Ifeoma Ndiolo has so much to say, particularly on the latest books she just launched online. You don't want to miss this!

E PLUS The Storyteller: Welcome Ifeoma Ndiolo to E PLUS the Storyteller Blog..we are so excited to have you..

 Ifeoma Ndiolo: Thank you.

E PLUS The Storyteller: It's inevitable to talk about poetry without Ifeoma Ndiolo in the picture and this speaks volume of your how you've successfully created a niche for yourself.. What's your inspiration?

Ifeoma Ndiolo: My inspiration is God. He inspires me, the words come and I write. I am only his messenger. I write about life, love and living.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Awesome.

Your poems are very captivating and they have strong characters, so much so that they speak to the readers from various dimensions..is this deliberate?

Ifeoma Ndiolo: Thank you. I write from the passion I feel. I communicate from the depths of my heart and since you find them captivating, that means I succeeded in communicating. It’s poetry and when poetry speaks, everyone is supposed to understand. I am also inspired by people, events and my environment. I write about what I see, experience and what other people experience

E PLUS The Storyteller: Hmm.. insightful..

Ifeoma Ndiolo: Thank you.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Because of writers like you, the art of Poetry is taking a new dimension, poetry is being demystified by every count of the word

How do you sync this with the reality of time in our present world where things can be quite complicated?

Ifeoma Ndiolo: Life should not be complicated. I actually do not agree that things are being more complicated. Rather, technology is making a whole lot of complex things easier. When it comes to poetry, some people believe that to write poetry you must employ the use of complex grammar and make it difficult to understand, I don’t. If poetry is not understood, it is not
communicated.

Communication is very important to me and I believe in using the easiest words to understand. Please don’t get me wrong. I know it’s so easy for someone like me to be misunderstood. I am not saying that figures of speech should not be employed to write poetry. They must be, because they bring meaning to poetry and add beauty and life to poems but they can be done in less complex ways.

E PLUS The Storyteller๐Ÿ‘. Now, let's look at the latest release of your two books...

Echoes from Within and Rhythms from the Heart..

That's some master piece of Poetry..When did you get the inspiration for these collections?

Ifeoma Ndiolo: I started writing them in 2013. I knew I will publish them some day but didn’t know when. I kept writing more and adding until now. While launching my other books, I usually pick some of the poems and dramatize them to make some valid points... I call it “Bringing Poetry to Life” and the reaction was always awesome. I am glad they are finally out and I am waiting for the world to enjoy two collections that took 7 years to compose.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Wow! Certainly, worth the wait.

Ifeoma Ndiolo: I totally hope so.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Poems like: 'Welcome Home'
'Lagos Traffic'
'Sunday' are some of the outstanding poems in these collections. Would we say that your versatility has influenced your poetic prowess greatly?

Ifeoma Ndiolo: Well, if you say so. I totally enjoyed writing those poems. I do not restrain myself in any way when I write, I just let it flow as it comes. I am sure you like them because you can identify with them. Everyone can. As children, we used to look forward to wearing our beautiful clothes to church on Sunday and eating rice on Sunday afternoons. It was such a special day and still is.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Yes, sure still is๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜Š.

How relevant is 'Echoes from Within' and 'Rhythms from the heart' to the human experience?

Ifeoma Ndiolo: They are so relevant that everyone can relate to the experiences in many of the poems especially Nigerians who either visit or live in Lagos. We all know what has been going on in Nigeria.. from bad governance to lack of  development, to insecurity especially kidnapping and killings by herdsmen, ethnicity, discrimination and victimizations as well as neglect of our educational institutions and healthcare.

I also write a lot about upholding the dignity of women and protecting the girl child from rape, abuse or early marriage. I believe that the female child deserves an equal opportunity and has a voice which must be heard.

E PLUS The Storyteller: This is quite  commendable.

Ifeoma Ndiolo: Thank you
