The entire atmosphere in the room was solemn. Demola sat still among the men and women who occupied various positions in his father’s administration. At this moment, all eyes were on him. His father beckoned him to stand and face everyone.
“Demola, like I said… it’s time. The baton is gradually coming to you, and there is a need for you to begin to understand the game,” President Dapo Makinde said as he slowly rose to his feet.
For a moment, there was dead silence. Then, one after another, the others began to stand. Demola grew edgy.
One of the men in the gathering—Olu Julius, a special aide to President Dapo Makinde—stepped forward and stretched out his hand, beckoning Demola to come closer. Responding to the gesture, Demola walked steadily toward him. Almost immediately, the man signaled him to stop as everyone—including the President—watched on.
“Demola Makinde, son of President Dapo Makinde, you are welcome to the inner circle of the Eagles. The President—your father—is solidly behind you, and we, the entire members, give you our full support,” Olu Julius stated emphatically.
The rest of the members affirmed his words with approving gestures. At that point, President Dapo Makinde stepped forward and embraced his son.

“You are welcome, son. You are now one of us,” he exclaimed with a cheerful smile.
This was followed by a loud ovation. Demola Makinde stood still, his mind deep in thought.

Sitting quietly in the gallery, the persistent sound of her paintbrush gently stroking the canvas filled the entire space. For a moment, she paused and stared at the beautiful work of art. Her face lit up with a smile; she couldn’t help but feel proud of a creation born from so many inspirations.
“Danielle… you have a call,” a voice from behind echoed, interrupting her thoughts.
