Habila Musa: Good Morning.
E PLUS The Storyteller: What a timely day to have this chat interview with you.😊
E PLUS The Storyteller: Welcome to *MEET THE GUEST..with E PLUS the Storyteller.*😊 and Happy Birthday.
Habila Musa: Thank you.
E PLUS The Storyteller: Thankfully, it's a brand new year, what does this translate for you, especially as someone in the financial sector?
Habila Musa: Well for me, I see every new year as a time to harvest on seeds planted in the previous one. Also, it’s a time to sow new ones, for the next year.
As per a new year for me in my industry, all I think about is growth, but we must be ready for any challenge, too. That way we can have some bits of balance.

E PLUS The Storyteller: Hmmm..very profound.👍
How would you describe the financial sector in Nigeria?
Habila Musa: The financial sector is quite large at the moment. So there are so many aspects to it, but, it’s a sector that dictates a lot in Nigeria. I will also describe the sector as one that has some serious potential for growth.
E PLUS The Storyteller: Great!
Do, you think, as a nation, we are taking advantage of this narrative?
Do, you think, as a nation, we are taking advantage of this narrative?
Habila Musa: This is an interesting question. For me personally, I have, and I have also seen others. But as a nation, I don’t think we are. Majority of the citizens seem too fixated with religion, tribal and other sentiments. These in turn, have blinded so many, from seeing what is available and what can be achieved.
E PLUS The Storyteller: Insightful!
Where do you think we can go, from here?
Where do you think we can go, from here?
Habila Musa: We can be anything we want to be. It’s now left to us as a people, to choose our destiny. Someone once said:
“Fortune favors the brave”.
Nigeria was once a revered nation, so it’s not like we’ve never been successful. We just need a revolution in the way we think.
E PLUS The Storyteller: Apt..very apt indeed! And now, it's quite interesting that you have such a formidable Scheme that is making so much difference in the lives of individuals and cooperate groups, alike, tell us more.
Habila Musa: Okay, so we all know that access to finance in Nigeria has been an issue over the years. My background in retail lending & Mortgages, led me to partner with a friend(in similar background).
This gave birth to Checkoff Credit in 2017, solely focused on Contract Employees of Organizations.

They form a niche of people that are not catered for in the “Lending space”. We have given out loans of over N200m and our collection rate has been very good. They have been able to access loans to use for house rent, emergencies and other things. They appreciate that someone is willing and is ready to give them access to finance, where others doubted.
E PLUS The Storyteller: Wow! Splendid. I guess, we can clearly say, this is bridging the gap, for so many people?
Habila Musa: Definitely, we are also looking at more areas where we can make impact. The key is not just looking for an area to cater for, but also an area that will bring a good yield, in terms of Investment returns.
E PLUS The Storyteller: Very important, indeed.
Can we comfortably say, there are more viable investments than others? And what would you recommend for investors?
Habila Musa: Yes, there are more viable investments. We are currently in a clime, where investment rates are dropping, so people are looking for where to invest. Investing in ventures can be tricky, but one must establish what they are trying to achieve, before they invest.
You can invest for short, medium or long term. Try to avoid anything that looks too good to be true, i.e, incredible returns, like 50% per annum. Look for someone who, or referrals that have invested in the business. If you can have access to the financial records of the company you want to invest in, please check it out.
Another thing you can do is, get to know the promoters of the company- Are they “men of character”?- These are all pointers to guide us in making investment decisions.

CHECKOFF CREDIT, currently takes investments from a minimum of N1m- N5m over a 6/12 months tenor. Returns are paid monthly, until an investor decides to liquidate. Our rates are competitive and most importantly, we pay when due.
E PLUS The Storyteller: Hmm..This is quite insightful.. thanks.
Okay, let's step into the world of Habila Musa, by the way..today is that special day- your birthday!!! How do you blend work and play?
Habila Musa: Okay, to be honest, I try to keep a low profile on my birthday. Blending work & play is tricky, so I work when it’s time to deliver and play by dancing on my own with a drink.
E PLUS The Storyteller: Beautiful😄👏🏻Favourite meal?
Habila Musa: Tough question. I just enjoy good food.
E PLUS The Storyteller: Great..
What are those choices you have made that has shapened your experience in life?
What are those choices you have made that has shapened your experience in life?
Habila Musa: I am a big risk taker. This is one attribute that keeps pushing me and, then I have and know that God wants me to succeed.
E PLUS The Storyteller: Hmmm.. Awesome. And who or what is your greatest influence?
Habila Musa: As a child , I once heard someone talk about poverty, how he never wanted to be associated with it. From then on, it just stuck. Every single day I live, I’m consciously programmed not to be associated with it. I’m always thinking of ideas or ways to succeed. This is what influences or motivates my every move.
E PLUS The Storyteller: Outstanding! So, how can one access CHECK OFF CREDIT?
Habila Musa: So we have our website, www.checkoff.loans and an email can be sent to habila@checkoff.loans on investment opportunities.
