WHY ME?
Quietly, I sat on my own oo when Dotun asked me to accompany him to see one of his doctor friend, Samuel. However, I had no inclination that, that day would mark the beginning of a very great tragedy for me!

It was a very big compound, very beautiful and spectacular too.
Trust me..my eyes roamed round like a never ending ticking clock!

"Hmmm...Dotun, she is beautiful." Dr. Samuel said as he set his eyes on me.

"My brother, thank you..Na God oo" Dotun replied as he smiled from ear to ear.

"Thank you." I responded to the compliment.

In few seconds, Dr. Samuel led us to a very big living room where he beckoned on us to sit and make ourselves comfortable.

"Just a second." Dr. Samuel said as he excused himself. I was quite impressed by the interior décor of the living room that I got a bit lost.

"Sunbo!" Dotun called my attention back. Quickly I snapped out of my thought.

"Hmmm..this one wey you dey look like this..take it easy oo." Dotun teased. Then I responded with a smile(quite embarrassed though.) Almost immediately, Dr. Samuel joined us, this time he was stealing glances at me!

Dr. Samuel served us one of the chilliest drinks ever, along with a sumptuous gigantic grilled fish.. I mean apparently the guy was living large oo. "This must be a very successful Doctor." I pondered.

"I hope you are enjoying yourself sha?" He asked, interrupting my thought. I replied with a nod.

"The Doc! You are too much!" Dotun hailed as he devoured the roasted fish without mercy! Apparently, he was enjoying every bit.(Actually, Dotun liked fish.)
They chatted for quite sometime, while my attention was caught by one of my favourite programs on screen; an E PLUS Production! Like those people are great Storytellers!😃

Then it was time to leave and Dotun beckoned on me.

"So, Dotun you no even introduce me to your babe, abi na only you waka come?" Dr. Samuel said as he stared at me. Shyly, I looked away.

"No mind me jare, dis na my girl ooo... I'm making her my wife soon. No worry, we go do the proper introduction when time reach." Dotun said excitedly.

"Okay ooo.. I'm Dr. Samuel...I'm sure by now you know?" He said as he stretched forth his hands for a handshake. I hesitated and looked at Dotun and he beckoned on me to respond.

While in the car, on our way home, I felt quite awkward as I kept staring at the piece of paper in my hand. Dr. Samuel had slipped it in, while we shook hands.

I was quite curious about the content but had to wait until I got home.

"Hope you enjoyed yourself?" Dotun asked as he picked his teeth with one of the toothpicks in the car.

"Hmmm..yes..sure." I replied.

"Samuel is one friend I love to hang out with. Don't worry you will get use to his ways." Dotun said with a smile on.

He eventually took me home after I had stopped by, briefly at his house to make eforiro and Amala.

Immediately I entered  the house, I quickly opened my bag and brought out the piece of paper Dr. Samuel had slipped into my hands.

Then I unfolded it and read its content. "What!!!!!" I screamed.

"Dotun is married? With a child?" I continued to read the alarming details on the paper and staggered towards my bed.

"How could Dotun do this to me? Eight years of my life, wasted! Just like that!" I yelled as I held on to the note. I decided to visit the address of the woman, Dr. Samuel described as his wife!

The next day I got to the place and it was the same building Dotun had shown me as his father's property! Chai! I had a good mind of storming into the house but I changed my mind! Well, I wasn't going to waste my time confronting Dotun.

Not quite long, I saw Dotun come out of the house with a lady and a small boy! Hmmm.. all the evidence added up.

Quickly, I walked away before I would be seen.

I simply ended that relationship, I had confirmed everything Dr. Samuel had written on that note, or so I thought.

I became Dr. Samuel's wife, yes!
We had it all going until one day we had a conversation.

"Do you know, I wonder how you get things done? You just seem to know so much?" I said to him while we had dinner.

"Hmmm, then you are not as observant as I thought." Dr. Samuel replied as he picked the plantain from his plate.

"What do you mean?" I probed further.

"I'm not just a Doctor of the body, I'm a Doctor of the mind so I can get whatever I want otherwise you won't be here! I am Dr. Samuel a.k.a smooth operator " He said as he continued eating.

Suddenly, my heart stopped and I was gasping for breath.

Dotun got married after he had recovered from the shock he suffered  when he learnt I got married to his friend, Dr. Samuel.

And for the lady and her son..well I got to find out that those were his relatives that he was trying to assist pending when he found a permanent abode for them.

"Why me!!!!!" I screamed.

DIAMOND and STONES
By Ejiro Emenike Ukaumune.
I sat in that car with my eyes closed. All I was thinking of, was Victor . . .

I had arrived home before 11.00pm and the door was locked from behind.

Thank God, I had my keys. I quickly reached out for it in my bag and then, opened the door gently.

My mum was already fast asleep on the couch. She probably must have been reading some court documents, in preparation for another session in court, obviously she had them close to her chest.

I guess my presence must have suddenly startled her.

"Who is there?" She mumbled.

"Good evening mum, so sorry to have startled you."

I replied nervously.

My mum sat up, yawned for a while and stared at me.

"Mum, are you okay?" I asked.
